Golfers from across Manitoba are being invited to take part in “The Lions 100 Hole Golf Marathon” on Monday, September 12, 2016 at Larters Golf & Country Club, RAIN OR SHINE! This unique event is for premier golfers, and no more than 36 golfers will be allowed to enter this marathon. Each golfer will be paired with another participant for the day, and each will have his/her own cart. Individually, each golfer will attempt to play 100 holes of golf in one day! With sunrise at about 7:30 a.m., and sunset around 7:00 p.m., there will be less than 12 hours to complete the challenge. Following the event there will be a dinner and awards ceremony. The 100 Hole Experience When a “normal” round of golf takes approximately 4 hours, you might wonder how 5-1/2 rounds can be completed in less than 12 hours. Although each golfer will play a “normal” round of golf in that they will be scoring each hole, some of the rules have been amended to allow for faster play during “The Lions 100 Hole Marathon”. Each golfer will receive:
– Morning Breakfast
– A power golf cart
– One dozen golf balls
– All meals and beverages on the course
– Awards Dinner
If you accept this challenge as a participating golfer, you must commit to raising a minimum of $500.00 through pledges. The monies raised from this marathon will go to the Lions Hearing Canadian Division. If you are interested in participating either as a sponsor or golfer, or if you would like more information on this event, please contact Ernie Jones, The Lions 100 Hole Marathon, Lions Club of Winnipeg at 204-784-1236, or via email at email@example.com
8th Annual 100 Hole Golf Tournament
The day was clear for 14 “hardy” golfers looking toward playing 100 Holes of Golf on September 12, 2016. Tee off was 7:30 a.m. with the final golfer finishing at 6:30 p.m.
The temperature was favourable, however, when the wind picked up the 5th and 6th rounds of golf found many golfers warming their hands.
Aside from a dedicated group having a good time, this experience produced 6252 strokes, 49 birdies, 552 pars and amazingly only 101 lost balls.
Many thanks to all who participated and all proceeds go to the Lions Hearing Foundation Canada in support of the Lions Hearing Children’s Education & Resource Centre.
THANK YOU to all Sponsors!
